A Severe Cyclonic Storm SCS (Biparjoy) over northeast Arabian Sea has made landfall in Indian Gujarat coast (Jakhau port and surrounding areas). It is expected to move North eastward and weaken into a cyclonic storm by morning 16 June and further weaken into a depression by evening 16 June.
It is currently at Latitude 23.4°N & Longitude 68.5°E at a distance of about 230 km from Karachi, 169km from Thatta and 145km from Keti Bandar. Maximum sustained surface winds are 80-90 Km/hour with gusts 110 Km/hour around the system center. Expected maximum wave height in Northeast Arabian sea is 30 feet.
Likely Impacts:
· Widespread rain and thunderstorm with heavy / very heavy falls accompanied with squally winds of 80-100 Km/hour are likely in Thatta, Sujawal, Badin, Tharparker, Mirpurkhas & Umerkot districts till 17 June.
· Storm surge of 6-8 feet is expected at the land falling point (Keti Bandar and surroundings) which can inundate the low-lying areas.
· Squally winds may cause damage to lose structures in Thatta, Sujawal, Badin, Tharparker and Umerkot districts.
· Dust/thunderstorm and rain with a few heavy falls & accompanied with gusty winds of 30-50 Km/hour are likely in Karachi, Hyderabad, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tando Allayar, Shaheed Benazirabad & Sanghar districts tonight and tomorrow.
· Sea conditions along Sindh - Makran coast are likely to be rough / very rough (2 - 2.5 meters).
