Karachi airport declared red zone after attack on Chinese engineer near airport

Security has been tighten, five new police check posts have been established around the airport perimeter. These checkpoints will be manned by police personnel 24/7. Only authorized individuals are allowed access to airport route.

According to details, security measures have been further tightened in Karachi following a suicide attack on a convoy of Chinese engineers near the airport and a shooting incident involving two luxury vehicles on Shara-e-Faisal.

Given these threats, the airport and its adjoining areas have been designated as a red zone

"Police personnel will be on duty 24/7 at these checkpoints, scrutinizing all suspicious persons and vehicles to deter any unusual activity," Kahisf Aftab Abbasi, SSP Malir stated.

Travellers heading to Karachi airport are advised to arrive well in advance to complete security checks smoothly and avoid delays. Abbasi urged all passengers to carry both their ticket and national ID for verification before entering the red zone.
