Iran's foreign minister Abbas Araqchi said in a post on X that passage for all commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz is "declared completely open" for the remaining period of the ceasefire, in line with the ceasefire in Lebanon.
Despite a two-week U.S.-Iran ceasefire that expires on Tuesday, Iran had so far not lifted its blockade of the waterway. Tehran had said there would be no deal as long as Israel was striking Lebanon.
“In line with the ceasefire in Lebanon, the passage for all commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz is declared completely open for the remaining period of the ceasefire,” Araghchi wrote in a post on his X account on Friday.
This transit must be conducted “on the coordinated routes as already announced Ports and Maritime Organization of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” Araghchi added.
