Washington, D.C. - There have been numerous and continuous efforts by members of congress to urge the President of USA to halt, lessen and stop the killing of Christians Pakistan. Christians have mostly been targeted using the ultra orthodox blasphemy laws in Pakistan but, the court systems and trial systems in Pakistan are very outdated and very often rely simply on testimonies which may or may not be true. Because of these outdated systems of trial and conviction. countries around the world have urged Pakistan to halt the killing of people using these laws.
Pakistan has been urged by the United Nations and many other individual countries to recognize the calls for a moratarium of the death penalty globally. The focus has shifted globally to using simpler forms of less torturous punishment and rehabilitating and educating criminals rather than using the death penalty which is outdated by many standards globally adn considered torturous for the victim and their families. The most recent effort by congress to urge the president of the USA to halt, discourage or stop the killings of individuals in Pakistan based on the death penalty was put forth by Congressman Clay Higgins, Louisiana State, USA. He put forth a letter to President Biden outlining the trials of a lady named Shagufta Kiran that will likely be hung for her disparaging comments against Islam. Here is the letter in it's entierity which urges the President to save the life of Ms. Kiran.
We continue to monitor the situation for Shagufta Kiran and others in similar cicumstances and pray for death penalty around
