A bomb blast killed at least 11 people at a public rally in the southwestern Pakistani city of Quetta late on Tuesday, officials said.
The prime minister, who is currently on his official visit to China, strongly condemned the blast and conveyed deep grief over the loss of precious lives in the blast. He also prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.
He said the attack on the political rally was clear evidence of the nefarious conspiracy by terrorists to spread chaos in Balochistan.
“Terrorists are enemies of peace and development in Balochistan,” the prime minister said vowing to continue war against terrorism until complete eradication of this menace from the country.
Government official Hamza Shafaat said the rally was held to commemorate the anniversary of the death of Sardar Ataullah Mengal, a nationalist leader and former provincial chief minister.
His son Sardar Akhtar Mengal, who was in attendance, is safe, Shafaat said, adding that another 30 people were injured.
